Description:

Dr. C. Visvanathan, is a Professor of the Environmental Engineering and Management Program, School of Environment, Resources and Development, Asian Institute of Technology. He has a Ph.D. (Chemical /Environmental Engineering) from Institute National Polytechnique, Toulouse, France. His main areas of research interests include: Membrane technologies for water and wastewater treatment, Cleaner production and solid waste disposal and management. In the field of solid waste, his main research interests focus around waste recycling and reuse, landfill pre-treatment technologies, plus anaerobic digestion of food waste. He has published more than 150 international journal papers. He has more than 30 years of experiences teaching environmental engineering and management related courses at graduate level at AIT. His professional experiences include: Project Engineer, Asia Division, International Training Center for Water Resources Management, Sophia Antipolis, France, and short term consultant to UNEP Industry and Environment Office, Paris, France. He was coordinating the ADB – AIT – UNEP joint project on 3R – Knowledge Hub from the AIT side.

Dr Graeme K Pearce holds a degree in chemistry and a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Oxford, and is the Principal at his own consulting firm, Membrane Consultancy Associates (MCA) founded in 2005. MCA specializes in advice on membrane filtration technology and provides consulting services covering a range of issues including performance review, problem solving, acting as an expert witness, market analysis, strategy review, and technical advice for investors. Graeme has 40 years’ experience in the membrane field having undertaken technology and strategic development roles at BP, Kalsep, and Hydranautics prior to consulting. He is well known in the field of water and membranes through publications including numerous papers and book contributions. He is also the sole author of ‘UF/MF Membrane Water Treatment’, published by TechnoBiz. Graeme has conducted many workshop training sessions, has been a conference chairman and a regular conference session chair, as well as giving numerous keynote lectures and other papers. Mr. Kazi Sarwan Hasan has been working in water and wastewater treatment field for more than 22 years with specialization in process development for filtration systems, membrane system design, technical consulting/troubleshooting liquid filtration systems, water purification and wastewater recycle/recovery. Currently, he is working as the Managing Director of Innosep Co., Ltd., Thailand, which provides global services of membrane water treatment and industrial filtration. His educational credentials include M.Eng in Water and Wastewater Engineering (Asian Institute of Technology).

Description:

Dr. Wilf has been involved in process development, system design, project execution, plant operation and maintenance of large, commercial desalination and wastewater reclamation plants in US, Europe and Middle East since 1977. Dr. Wilf has been involved in development of new desalination process and optimization of membrane technologies. Some of his inventions have resulted in patent applications and are being used in commercial desalination systems. Dr. Wilf is a regular contributor to professional journals, wrote chapters on membrane technology processes and applications to a number of books. He edited and wrote with other coauthors The Guidebook to Membrane Desalination Technology that has been published in 2006. The second book on membrane technology that he edited and contributed, The Guidebook to Membrane Technology for Wastewater Reclamation, has been published in 2010. Dr. Wilf regularly presents and teaches desalination and membrane technology subjects to engineers and water professionals. His teaching activity includes teaching course on membrane technology and desalination for European Desalination Society, and other courses for industrial companies and engineering organizations.
